A bit of my story so far…
Thanks for visiting. My name is Anthony Reed (he/him).
I am a yoga instructor (E-RYT 500) and hold a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) I am a student, and I am a teacher. I currently reside on the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Ute, Goshute, Shoshone, and Timpanogos people…commonly known today as Salt Lake City, UT..
I am devoted to helping people unlock more flow and balance in life through the cultivation of sustainable, therapeutic yoga practices.
I have stepped into service as a bridge to help people navigate transitions, better life-work balance, and more fulfilling relationships. These are the areas that I have worked to navigate in my own life. Over a period of 15 years, I served as a Global Business Unit Director for adidas and Nike and as a Lead for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) at Gap Inc. These were beautiful experiences that fostered my ability to create structure and collaborate with dynamic groups. Now the call is to be one of many guides that my clients will encounter in walking their own path.
The key obstacles on my journey have related to societal pressures in meeting the conditioned standards of racial identity, masculinity, and material success. My greatest obstacles are my greatest teachers, but for many years I simply did not know how to listen. So, I hid behind the masks of perfectionist beliefs, inauthentic relationships, and unhealthy habits. That was the starting point from where I began to cultivate deeper intention around yoga practice.
I found yoga over a decade ago, mainly as a source of physical exercise. I had received a last-minute invitation to a power vinyasa class and reluctantly accepted. Coming from a background in team sports and gym-style weight training, I wondered if I was even “flexible” enough for this hour-long class. It sounds simple, but my biggest excitement that day was in being able to touch my toes for the first time in my life! I kept going to classes and began noticing a much more subtle awareness to my body and thoughts. Over time, small improvements were adding up to big, beautiful changes in how I approached life. I moved my practice beyond just physical exercise and layered in more breathwork, meditation and study. These became the tools I needed to start listening to all the lessons along my journey. An entirely new way of being. An entirely new way of living more authentically.
